Garvan, Cyndi Statistician


Dr. Cyndi Garvan (Co-Principal Investigator): Cynthia Wilson Garvan is the Statistics Director in the Office of Educational Research in the College of Education at the University of Florida and Co-Director of the Collaborative Assessment Program Evaluation Services (CAPES) group. She has collaborated on many research studies with professors and physicians in various departments of the Colleges of Education, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry and Public Health and Health Professions including the Departments of Anesthesiology, Educational Psychology, Health Services, Neurology, Occupational Therapy, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Psychology, and Special Education. She is the lead statistician on a study funded by IES that will investigate the efficacy of a cognitive-behavioral intervention to reduce student aggression. She has also been the lead statistician on two longitudinal studies which have been supported by NIH for ten years each (Project CARE, a child development study; ADHD Detection and Services Use, a study of service use for children with Attention Deficit Disorder). Dr. Garvan has been the analyst on numerous statewide and nationwide surveys including health insurance studies in Florida, Indiana, and Kansas (1999, 2000, 2001, and 2004), Transition to Adult Life Programs and Services Study (2002), the National Marriage Survey (2003), and the Florida High School Exit Survey (2005)
