- Dr. Lisa Merlo is a licensed clinical psychologist and associate professor of psychiatry. She completed her Bachelor's degree (summa cum laude) at Transylvania University, then earned a Master's and PhD in clinical psychology from Wayne State University before completing a second Master's degree in psychiatric epidemiology. Dr. Merlo completed postdoctoral fellowships in both clinical child/pediatric psychology and drug abuse epidemiology/prevention. She currently serves as Director of Wellness Programs for the UF College of Medicine and the Director of Research for the Professionals Resource Network (the state impaired practitioners monitoring program). Dr. Merlo is active in research, teaching, and service. She collaborates with faculty from other colleges, as well as the Area Health Education Centers across Florida to provide training in motivational interviewing interventions for health professions students and healthcare professionals. She has receive honors and awards from multiple scientific and professional societies.
